When it comes to in-ear headphones, AirPods are what’s “Hip” these days. My Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 Review will tell you “Why?”
First, let me give you a bit of context as to why I went for these products.
Xiaomi (MI for short) introduced their Airdots quite awhile ago. As much as I loved them, the one thing that did bother me a lot was ergonomics.
“Bulky,” “Over-the-Top” design not only made them a little uncomfortable to wear, but the most annoying part was that they kept falling off from my ears.
I thought there was something wrong with the shape of my ear cavity, or maybe I wasn’t using the right sized ear cushions. Even after I changed the ear cushions multiple times, nothing seemed to work.
After a while, I had no other choice but to stop using them. Though I missed the sound quality, I gave up on them due to bad fitting.
I probably wasn’t the only one facing this problem, because Xiaomi recently improved on their ergonomics and many other issues with a new product.
This is where the Xiaomi AirdotsPro 2 comes in. Now that we’re done with ranting on the context, let’s have a closer look at them.

Things You’ll Get in the Box
When you first open the box of the new Airodts Pro 2, inside you’ll find square (Okay, square-ish) compact charging case, a pair of Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 earbuds, a USB type C charging cable, and a user manual.
I’m sure the guys at MI wanted to stuff more things in. They’re not allowed to. Not at this price anyway.
My First Impressions
As I said before, the new (and updated) version of the Airdots has a much improved ergonomics. The ear pieces are designed to fit comfortably inside the crevices and stay there.
The semi in-ear design allows you to wear it anywhere and for as long as you want, and adjust the position of it inside your ear cavity by using the neck of each ear piece like a handle.
One more thing I really liked about the design was the fact that the microphone is located on the neck of each ear piece, bringing it comparatively closer to your mouth than the in-ear ear buds.
This improves the voice clarity of your phone calls.
On the right side of the charging case, there is a function key for turning the connectivity of the ear buds on and off.
In the middle, there is the indicator that shows you the battery levels of the charging case. The charging port is set on the bottom of the case.
I was a bit taken aback after opening the case because I spotted a gap between the Airdots and the case.
This kind of ruined the aesthetics of the device for me. Just a tiny bit. I won’t complain as it performs well under pressure.
How Well Does AirDots Pro 2 Operate?
The lid of the charging case of the Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 adopts the magnetic structure from its predecessors, and shuts firmly with an assuring click.
I think, users would like this tiny tweak. Then again, I found the charging case of the Airdots Pro 2 rather edgy and sharp. I personally would like them to be rounder like that of its previous version.
Contrary to other TWS ear buds that have physical buttons, the Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 is equipped with virtual ones.
These virtual buttons on the Airdots Pro 2 works on all three modes; phone call, music mode, and voice assistant wake up. And the benefit of this is that you don’t need to press hard on the button to get stuff done.
You can just gently tap on them to play/pause your music, answer or reject calls, and activate Voice Assistant.
For example, if you want to answer a phone call, quick touch on the side of either ear piece. Do the same to hang up.
Something unique happens when the ear buds are in “Music” mode.
While the music is playing, if you take one ear piece off, the music stops playing. This is useful when you’re playing your own jam and suddenly you feel like the doorbell is ringing or someone is trying to talk to you.
Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 Range
The range of the Xiaomi Airdots PRo 2 is pretty decent like any MI product.
It’s powered by Bluetooth 5.0 which gives you a solid 10 meter range under any circumstances.
Even if you get into your car, put this thing on the magnetic car mount you own, and get out of the car to have a walk!
This means you can wear these earbuds and go on doing your chores in your regular-sized apartment while listening to your favorite track even if you left your phone in your bedroom.
I could pick calls without losing any voice clarity whatsoever. This was good enough for me.
MI AirDots Pro 2 Audio Quality
When it comes to sound quality, Xiaomi has been maintaining a standard from the very beginning. The Airdots Pro 2 is no exception.
The ear buds give you a medium acoustic fidelity, and are pretty good for vocal or unplugged songs. Personally I am not a huge fan of techno or EDM so bass is not a must have for me.
In a pair of earphones or headphones, I basically look for a rich ambient sound which I found in the Airdots Pro 2.
However, if you want bass then these are not the type of earbuds for you. In terms of high or low frequency, sounds this does not give you a top-notch performance.
My advice? Go for QCY T2C in-ear Headphones instead. You’ll find my extensive review on these products following the link.
Audio Sync and Noise Cancelling on AirDots Pro 2
The audio sync of these earbuds is not that good. That is, if you’re a “Performance Nazi.”
It lags for about 0.5 seconds, which is not a surprise at all. Most Bluetooth audio devices of this range have this thing going for them.
Gamers already know that Bluetooth devices are not good for gaming as they won’t be able to stream real-time stereo. Also, it has no noise cancellation which is not a surprise either.
But it performs surprisingly well in the mid-range, and should suffice for most of the genres of music unless you’re looking for intense audio clarity.
Call Quality on Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2
As I said before, these in-ear headphones have a range of 10 meters. People can basically walk around in your apartment wearing them while on call.
The voice sounds loud and clear and the person on the other end can also hear you as loud and clear thanks to the microphones of the Airdots Pro 2.
Just make sure to wear both the ear pieces while attending to a call. Otherwise, the voice clarity WILL SUFFER a great deal.

Time for My Verdict on Mi AirDots Pro 2
Overall, the Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 in-ear headpones are good for workout sessions, office use, and even road trips.
The Call clarity is decent and the battery performance is also pretty good. It’s not just me. I’m sure every Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 Review will tell you that.
The audio quality in terms of music is good for everyday use but if you want serious music-oriented earphones… that’s your call.
Also, the audio sync lags but that is the case with almost every Bluetooth audio device within this price range. It’s worth a try if you’re in for some new experience.
I’d rate the product 4 out of possible 5.
