With the Android platform more popular than ever it’s quite easy to find games of any genre but just because there’s a lot of games that doesn’t technically mean that they’d be good. Yes, you’ve heard me say this again and again. This is true in every sense of the word.
I’ve found myself being pulled in by eye catching trailers/screenshots only to be disappointed when playing the game for myself and realizing how tedious it is, or some heavy implementation of a “Pay 2 Win” structure that totally ruins the desire to continue.
Now, on my search for a game that has a good story and quirky gameplay I had remembered a series I almost forgot about which is the Rayman franchise.
I had already played and rather enjoyed the previous Rayman games that were available on Android such as (Rayman Jungle Run, Rayman Fiesta Run). While you had to buy those games in order to play them, they were honestly worth it at their respective price points at the time.
I was searching for Rayman games again on Playstore since I did enjoy them so why not play them again. At that moment I saw that there was Rayman adventures on top of the list and I’m here like, “wait, there’s a new Rayman game and I didn’t play it!?”
Yes I do know that the game has been out for quite a while now and I also do admit I don’t exactly keep up with all the best games as they come out but, I couldn’t miss out on my chance now especially since it’s FREE now.
After the download phase was complete, I jumped right in excited to be back into the Rayman universe. Now it’s time I tell you guys about what my experience with the game in my Rayman Advertures Android Game Review.
A Short But Sweet Storyline
The Rayman Adventures story starts off as some pirates try their hand in stealing some rare eggs that give life to the giant tree which is located in the middle of the forest. This tree gives life and provides balance to the wildlife that surrounds the forest.
Our hero (you can choose between Rayman or Barbara) runs after these said pirates after witnessing one of the golden eggs dropping off from their flying pirate ship. The premise of the game is attached to these creatures that are inside the eggs.
These creatures are called incrediballs who will help the giant tree grow throughout the course of the game. As you slowly play through the game you’ll be picking up more and more eggs which will in turn help the tree grow bigger and bigger.
This is quite useful, as you’ll end up not having to take too much time to find everything a level has to offer. If you’re like me you will want to get everything each level has to offer in order to get the highest score and more.
While the story of the game seems rather short in a sense but, how the game is designed it makes perfect sense and maintains a good balance between the gameplay and plot of Rayman Adventures.
Good Gameplay with Simple Controls
The controls of the game are very simple to understand and enjoy. You just swipe the direction you want your character to go and they’ll automatically run in that direction.
You have the option to jump off walls and over them with a simple tap on the screen. There’s even the ability to glide by holding down when you jump which allows you to glide through the air.
These basic functions while simple in nature go really well when traversing through each level of each stage. It’s also important to mention that the levels will take you roughly a few mins to finish which makes this game fun to play on the game without taking too much of your time.
Don’t let the easy controls fool you though. Just because they controls are easy doesn’t mean the game is as well. The game offers you challenges that will test your skills all the while without making you need to restart over and over in case it feels too difficult.
Another aspect a lot of people will appreciate is that there’s no timer so you don’t need to finish each stage in a certain amount of time. This gives you enough time to explore the levels and actually enjoy the game.
Although there aren’t timers in the levels, there are timers when it comes to hatching those eggs. While this isn’t that big of a deal, those who are like me and want to get a completionist it’s going to be hard as you’ll have to wait for those eggs to hatch.
The addition of microtransactions don’t heavily influence the game so you won’t have to spend money on the game in order enjoy it. The premium currency is farmable even if it’s slow, it’s doable. You can use that currency to buy cosmetic items in the game and temporary powerups.
Rayman Adventures Game Trailer
For those of you who want to catch a glimpse of this amazing game, here’s the launch trailer from Ubisoft. Enjoy!
Now that you’ve finished going through my Rayman Adventures Android Game Review, it’s safe to say this game will be a joyful experience and you know that.
Regardless of the choices they made in terms of monetization for the game and game design,, Rayman Adventures is still a good game to introduce those who are new to the Rayman Franchise while still catering to the old players alike.
If you’re looking for a good side-scrolling platformer I’d highly recommend trying out this game. I personally enjoyed my time playing this game and I’m sure you will too. The game is free to play and enjoy for as long as you want so why not give it a go?
If you liked my review of Rayman Adventures, I’m sure you’ll like the review of Oddmar (another game that I played recently) as well. Make sure to read the Oddmar Review of mine and drop a comment about both the games if you like them.
