Darksiders Genesis has a RTS style over top camera view that makes it feel like you’re playing something similar to Diablo III.
Unlike Diablo’s interconnected environment you teleport into various levels where you are tasked with solving puzzles and overtaking bosses.
While the story feels complex and hard to follow at times, the gameplay feels amazing. The gameplay style allows the players to freely move around as they wish and slay demons and monsters with two “Very Different” and “Unique” characters.

Darksiders: Genesis Gameplay Mechanics & Environment
Let’s discuss how Darksiders Genesis plays and what the experience is like here.
Among the two characters you have control over one is War. War is one of the four horsemen from the apocalypse who made his first appearance in the first Darksiders game.
The newest addition in this game is Strife. Strife is rather carefree who’s prone to using witty banter whereas War is the opposite as he’s serious and more reserved.
Strife uses ranged weapons so he’s more capable of handling opponents that can’t be reached or handled with melee weapons (Duh!). He also has a an ability named “Beam” that’s capable of leveling out enemies with its AOE effect.

When we are talking about War, his specialty is melee combat as he has a giant sword capable of cutting down enemies within close range with ease. Yes, veteran Darksiders players would already know this but let me refresh your memory a bit.
Also, if you are playing alone you can switch between the characters and utilize their weapons and abilities to the fullest or if you are playing with a friend, both of you control each character individually.
How Darksiders is different from Diablo III is that you can navigate the world in numerous ways from jumping around to riding horses to traverse the world and find hidden chests and various collectibles while playing through the campaign.
Players get to experience all these things in a “Top Down” view this time with notable differences. But you’ll know that when you compare it with Darksiders III on PC.
Hidden Darksiders Upgrades and Secrets

Darksiders also has a lot of replay value since you gain new abilities that are required to access areas which might be locked at the beginning of the game.
In these areas that are locked, you can find life upgrades and trickster keys both of these are very useful when playing the game as it gets considerably difficult without them.
How you upgrade your character is also crucial in how well you can handle the challenges in Darksiders Genesis.
It is also important to note that the skill tree is rather complex as you have to add points to the specific skill tree in order to unlock skills further along the tree so it is important to pay attention to what skills you are investing your points in.
On top of the skills you also have the option to invest and acquire new moves and additional upgrades.
When you come to the main hub there will be various traders like Vulgrim with whom you can trade your coins and souls in exchange for upgrades and such.
How the Game Runs on Google Stadia and the Overall Visuals
It was not a surprise to see that Darksiders Genesis runs very well on PC since there’s a lot of customizable settings.
But the Google Stadia version doesn’t seem to provide any feature of the sorts to enhance the experience.
The game is running on a 1080p resolution with 60 frames while the connection we used was 250 Mbps.
The Chromecast ultra was also connected to the Ethernet cable. Even though the stream resolution was 4K outside the menu it looked a tad blurry.
With this being said, Darksiders Genesis by no means looks bad on Stadia.
In fact, it looks quite beautiful.
What could have been improved and worked on is the resolution as it could’ve been higher like Metro exodus and Trials Rising. These games are able to render the game at 4K and thus show that it is indeed possible.
Surprisingly though, it came as a shock that the input lag on the game was hardly noticeable. So, it was easy to adjust myself to playing on this platform.
The issue that Google needs to work on for its platform would be better optimization in terms of resolution. This game can run properly on 4K.
One good example on this matter would be Final Fantasy XV which is playable on 4K for Xbox One whereas on Google Stadia it can only manage 1080p.
Google’s Stadia has an advantage of over 5 teraflops over Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Stadia being a new contender the game developers need to work on optimizing their games for Google’s platform.

Finishing Up My Darksiders Genesis Review
Coming down to the final thoughts on Darksiders Genesis, this is a really good game. But it could be much more if they worked on the story a little bit more and made the skill tree a little less difficult to understand.
The Darksiders universe is indeed complex and it would’ve been to the game’s benefit if the story was not watered down in order to reach a bigger audience.
With all this being said, these are minor issues that can be looked over because of the good gameplay and performance of the game on both PC and Stadia.
